Surgery by teenager: doctors ask Medical Council to act

This story, reported by the Times of India (and numerous other newspapers around the world) is really shocking. A couple, both doctors, let their 15 year old kid perform a cesarean on a 20 year old woman.

I was really shocked to see such a story. But i was not that surprised. After all, it happened in Tamil Nadu, where people take their own lives when their favourite actors die. The attitude of the Tamils has always been interesting. People are ready to do everything for their leaders and idols. But the sad fact is, these leaders don't try to bring the poor (only the poor are ready to do ANYTHING for their idols) out of poverty.

Coming back to the story, it was not only illegal and unethical to let a teenager do a surgery, but also stupid. and the boys father anaesthetised the woman, although he was not qualified to do that. It shows the lack of basic work ethics and lack of respect to human life. Such people should be arrested and the government should ensure the quality of treatment available in clinics run by such doctors.

Here is a sarcastic view of this incident.

My first blog in Malayalam

Mac cultists - cool techies or idiots?

This blog reminded me of two of my classmates in the university. I did a software project last year with these guys who were big mac fans/cultists. Obviously, they thought that Windows is inferior, and using macs were cool. Well, it's quite OK that they love (!) mac so much. But it annoyed me very much, that they acted like it's their religion or something like that. And they even tried to convert me, a Windows user. Probably they need to behave like this, because they have spent unreasonable sums of money on their macs.

More problems with safari?

When the BBC reported that Apple's browser Safari was available for Windows users, i was kind of excited to try it. I am no Apple-fan, but I like the look of Apple's applications. So when I reached home from work, i installed it on my laptop. It was pretty fast and I didn't need to reboot. Then I opened it, it looked nice. But I was a bit annoyed, because it was not that easy to resize the window. From early on, I didn't believe Apple's claim that it was the world's best browser. But when I saw that typing a few letters in the search box of Youtube made it to crash, i could not stop laughing. Then I started the browser again and tried to add a bookmark, that made it crash again.

Numerous bug reports have revealed the vulnerability of Safari. Software always contains bugs. But releasing such a buggy software is simply unacceptable. Since then I have been thinking why they released such a buggy software. This report makes the story more complex and alarming. Does it mean, that behind this relase was a conspiracy against windows users, not a bunch of tired/lazy engineers who didn't want to test the application by themselves?
